Trafficking Culture Research Associate Suzie Thomas is going to be in Finland for a month from this coming Monday.

She will be based as a Visiting Fellow at the Department pf Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies at the University of Helsinki, and as well as building links with university colleagues, she will be spending time interviewing numerous different actors that are involved in different ways with the movement of cultural property in (and through) Finland. People she will be talking with range from fine art specialists and transporters, to hobbyist metal-detector users and representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Finnish Border Guard. All of this will feed into her research within the region more broadly of how regulatory frameworks work in practice.

Further fieldwork is planned for later in the year in Estonia.

During her visit, she will also be giving a number of lectures and seminars at the University of Helsinki. Details of these to follow.
