New Data: Norwegian playing cards
28 Jan 2013
Trafficking Culture have been given permission to reproduce the images used for a new deck of playing cards which will be distributed among armed forces, customs and police in Norway. The cards were commissioned and developed by Kulturådet (Arts Council Norway), Riksantikvaren (Directorate for Cultural Heritage), ICOM Norway, Blue Shield Norway and the Norwegian Armed Forces. These participating organisations hold copyright for the cards, which were produced in 2012. The intention is to raise awareness about the threats to cultural heritage, particularly in times of conflict, and to promote means of better protecting it.
A pdf of the cards can be viewed via the Data section of the website, along with a growing resource of information which we have permission to reproduce, but which may not fit into traditional dissemination outlets such as through publication. We hope these resources will prove useful for researchers and other interested parties.
